Google & Bing Business Listings
Creating a business listing on Google & Bing
The Google My Business and Bing Places for Business services are a great way for a small business, with a physical office or shop location, to promote their business to local customers on Google or Bing.
Getting Started
To get started setting up these services, collect the following information from the client:
- Business Name
- Brief description of the business (one paragraph)
- Physical Address (street, town, and zip – no PO Boxes)
- Phone
- Website
- Facebook Address
- Twitter Address
- Year and Month when business was first established
- Is the business woman owned?
- Hours of operation for each day of the week
- Images, 10 images, 480 x 360 pixels (W x H)
Verification
Once all of the above information has been entered for the client, the listing
will enter a "verification" phase. At this time, a mailing is sent by
Google and Microsoft to the client's physical business location (as stated in the listing).
The client should be told to anticipate the mailing so it is not discarded
as "junk mail".
When the mailing arrives, the client should photography the 5-6 digit confirmation
code and email it to [email protected]. This will allow us to finalize
the listing to move its status to "Published". After 1-2 weeks, the listing
will start appearing in search results.
